Oil Change Action Endorses Adam Hamawy (NJ-12) and Mai Vang (CA-07) For Congress

Oil Change Action is proud to announce its endorsements of Adam Hamawy, who is running for U.S. Congress in New Jersey’s 12th district, and Mai Vang, who is in a hotly contested Congressional race in California’s 7th.

As working families in California and New Jersey struggle with the high cost of living and escalating climate impacts, Hamawy and Vang have made affordability and climate action focal points of their campaigns. Both candidates have signed the No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge, a promise not to accept campaign contributions from Big Oil, and support a just, rapid transition to affordable renewable energy.

Allie Rosenbluth, Campaign Manager at Oil Change Action, said:

“A surgeon and humanitarian, Dr. Hamawy has supported communities across the world recovering from climate disasters. He’s seen the devastating toll of the climate crisis firsthand, and he’s dedicated to protecting New Jersey families from its impacts. In Congress, he’ll fight for climate justice by ending fossil fuel subsidies and making polluters pay for the climate destruction they’ve caused.

“Mai Vang is the clear climate champion in California’s 7th Congressional District. Mai is unbought and unbossed by the fossil fuel industry, unlike her opponent, who has taken hundreds of thousands of dollars from Big Oil. She’s the only candidate in the race who supports a moratorium on the development of AI data centers, which consume immense quantities of polluting, climate-warming fossil fuels. Californians who believe their representative should fight for them – not Big Tech or Big Oil – should choose Mai Vang.”
